“At PEMCAS, I contribute as a senior architectural technologist, a role I came to after a background in industrial design, designing internal office layouts and office furniture. I worked on Dublin’s most iconic financial district buildings, like the Ulster Bank HQ in Georges Quay. When we deliver a project, we always pay attention to how the building will be used. I love bringing my expertise in this area: treating every building like a product that must perform a clearly defined function, is safe to use, and will stand the test of time. I also worked with a surveying company for three years doing residential house design, planning applications, and site surveys. In 2013 I sat my exams for the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland, and I am now a registered Architectural Technologist with that organisation.
The safety aspect of building design and use led to my specific focus in fire safety with a postgraduate diploma at Trinity College Dublin. It is so important to go above and beyond compliance. I am dedicated to my commitment in this area, even if it means having to be tough in some situations. Besides excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, I fight to get what is best for our clients, big and small. Helping the smaller guy with the same level of commitment as larger clients really makes me proud of what I do every day.
The preparation of detailed tender packages in conjunction with the project design team is really where the most value can be achieved for the client. Our team enjoys a challenge and strives to become better every day. Starting early engagement from the concept design stage is probably the best advice for our potential customers. In building design, you can never assume anything; we have helped so many clients mitigate risks and save money by going that extra mile during the tender preparation stage.”
